PURPOSE
The Simcoe County Law Association (“SCLA”) is dedicated to enhancing and supporting the practice of law in Simcoe County.
The SCLA is responsible for maintaining a law library (staffed) at the Court House, 4th Level, 75 Mulcaster Street, Barrie, Ontario, to meet the research needs of its members.
An excellent collection, computer research access and study/work areas are provided to members of the bar.
The SCLA also maintains a Lawyer’s Lounge and Robing Room Facilities for its members and counsel visiting from other counties.

History
The Library provides photocopying, printing, faxing services and the Collection circulates to members of the Simcoe Law Association and is available for court use by other Lawyers in good standing with the Law Society of Upper Canada. Facilities are only for the use of Association Members and visiting Lawyers. Public access and/or use of the Library is restricted.
The Association was incorporated in 1890 to serve the lawyers in Simcoe County.
Computer User Workstations
5, plus 1 each in the Barrister's lounges in Collingwood, Orillia and Midland.
The LibraryCo Tool Kit of Electronic Resources is available on the 3 research computers in Barrie and also on the computers in the satellites. This site links the user to free use of LexisNexis Quicklaw and Canada Law Book's Criminal Spectrum along with a number of free research sites including Canlii, e-Laws and Justice Canada.
Facility
The library is located on the 4th level of the Barrie Courthouse. The library is approximately 1900 square feet with an adjacent lawyer's lounge and robing rooms. There are two study carrels available, seating for 14 at the worktables and a TV/VCR.
